Laser hair removal with Clarity II laser is the most effective treatment we have today to reduce unwanted hairs in certain areas.
The laser uses 2 wavelengths: the Alexandrite laser is ideal for lighter types, while the Nd: YAG laser is the only laser to be used in dark skin types.
Laser hair removal only works on pigmented hair and does not affect white, light blonde or red hair. In addition, it only works on hair that is in the growth phase of the hair cycle. (about 80% of our hair is actively in growing phase, while the other hairs are in a resting phase). It is therefore necessary to treat several times to obtain good results.
In most areas permanent laser hair removal works very well and the hair does not grow back anymore after a number of sessions. On average 6 to 8 sessions are required, with a time interval between sessions ranging from 4 to 8 weeks.
In areas where hair growth has a hormonal influence (most commonly face area in women, back in man), it can be more difficult to depilate permanently as new hairs will continuously be formed due to hormonal stimulation. Nevertheless, it can be useful to reduce density and thickness, but maintenance treatments have to be considered. In this cases laser hair bleaching, which is an alternative treatment for permanent hair removal, is to be considered.
Is laser hair removal painful?
The treatment is uncomfortable but not painful. During the treatment, cold air is used to cool the skin and make the treatment as comfortable as possible.
Before a laser hair removal:
The skin cannot be tanned, so minimum 4 weeks no sun exposure before hair removal laser.
It is important not to pluck the hair with tweezers or wax it from 4 weeks before the treatment, because the presence of the hair root is required for the treatment to be effective enough.
We ask that you shave or cut the area 1-2 days before your appointment, such that a short 1-2 mm hair is present at the time of treatment.
After the treatment
The skin may be slightly red and the hair follicles may be swollen for a day or two. A soothing cream will be applied. It is important to avoid sun exposure during 4 weeks after the treatment.
