Application of liquid nitrogen, which has extreme cold temperature, with a spraying device on a skin lesion to superficially destroy it.
This ‘freezing’ technique is used for a number of skin lesions that are superficially located on the skin surface like warts, seborrheic keratosis, actinic keratosis, skin tags, sun spots,..

It is a minimally invasive technique and does not need anaesthesia. It is slightly painful (burning sensation) for a few seconds.
After cryotherapy, the treated lesion swells and is red for 24 h and then forms a dark crust that is then shed of in 3 – 4 weeks.
Sometimes the lesion is not completely removed in 1 session and repeated treatments are needed.

It is important to avoid sun exposure in the treated areas for 4-6 weeks to avoid brown pigmentation around the treated area.
